Baldwin falls in state soccer in penalty kick shootout
Baldwin's bid for a state soccer championship ended Tuesday in a penalty kick shootout.
Defending 1A to 4A state champion Kansas City Christian scored three on three penalty kicks and stopped three Baldwin attempts, winning the match.
Playing at home, Baldwin took the lead in the first-round state match when junior Nick Joslyn kicked a rebound shot into the net with 26:03 to play in the second half.
The Panthers tied the match with 8:26 to play in the match on a goal by Patrick McEldowney. The teams then played scoreless soccer through the remaining minutes of regulation, two 10-minute overtimes and two five-minute periods.
