Baldwin's bid for a state soccer championship ended Tuesday in a penalty kick shootout.

Defending 1A to 4A state champion Kansas City Christian scored three on three penalty kicks and stopped three Baldwin attempts, winning the match.

Playing at home, Baldwin took the lead in the first-round state match when junior Nick Joslyn kicked a rebound shot into the net with 26:03 to play in the second half.

The Panthers tied the match with 8:26 to play in the match on a goal by Patrick McEldowney. The teams then played scoreless soccer through the remaining minutes of regulation, two 10-minute overtimes and two five-minute periods.

Great SEASON Bulldog Soccer Team!!! We are so proud of you! I've also noticed how active your Team has been in all school activities. I don't know if you all talked about and made a plan to have that kind of impact but I've seen it myself and heard many people talking about the Soccer team being everywhere together supporting all the other Bulldog sports teams.

Congratulations to the BHS cross country teams on their performance at the State Meet last Saturday. The boys finished a very respectalbe 5th and had some great performances from a young group this year. The girls brought home another trophy finishing 3rd! The girls look strong and will be contenders again next year! I'm sure the Soccer team already knew all of this and I greatly apperciate their support this year for all their peers. Sorry I had to write this on your story but there wasn't a CC story to post this on.iI believe this is a more postive post and hopefully won't be deleted. Though my last one was pure facts so I'm not sure why it was deleted.
