Multiple departments figting large grassfire near Baldwin City

The Baldwin City Fire Department and multiple fire departments from townships in Douglas and Franklin counties are fighting a large grass fire northeast of Baldwin City.
Law enforcement officers are rerouting traffic on U.S. Highway 56 as firefighters seek to gain the upper hand on the fire that has spread along the north side of the highway from about 2 miles west of Baldwin City to an unpopulated areas northeast of the Baldwin City Intermediate Center.
