GM to say ‘thank you’ with open house
As a thank you to the community, the General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kan., is playing to an open house from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the plant.
The open house in Kansas City, Kan., is one of 54 open houses GM is playing host to — one at each of its 54 U.S. facilities — over the course of the year as part of its effort to thank the American public for its support, as well as to showcase GM employees and new products that are being offered.
Free tours of the plant will be offered throughout the day, and attractions will also include vehicle displays and a chance to drive a range of GM vehicles that include the brand new Chevrolet Volt, Extended Range Electric Vehicle and Camaro Convertible. Additionally, Safe Kids USA will have an interactive display, with other displays to include one from the Kansas Speedway NASCAR.
The Fairfax assembly plant is at 3201 Fairfax Trafficway. Guests should enter the parking area by turning east onto Funston Road off of Fairfax Trafficway and following signs to the parking lot. Guests are required to wear closed-toe shoes and no high heels. Handicap-accessible tours will be available.
In addition to the open house, a news conference announcing community grants being awarded by the General Motors Foundation will be at 9:15 a.m. prior to the event at the visitor’s entrance.
