KCKCC jazz coming to the Legends, Jardines
Kansas City Kansas Community College jazz musicians will participate in a clinic and present several performances in the coming weeks, including one at the Legends Outlets Kansas City.
Students first will attend a clinic and concert at KCKCC Friday by the Ted Howe Trio from Los Angeles, which is in the Kansas City area to perform at Jardines and the Topeka Jazz Workshop.
The concert, open and free to the public, will be from 11 a,m. to noon in the KCKCC Band Room on the campus, 7250 State Ave.
The KCKCC instrumental jazz department will follow up with three public performances starting Monday, Oct. 17, when the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos 1 and 2 and the Latin Band will perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Jazz: A Louisiana Kitchen at the Legends Outlets Kansas City. There is no charge for the performances and dinner and drink specials will be available.
On Monday, Oct. 24, the Friends University Jazz Combo from Wichita will go head to head with the KCKCC Jazz Combos 1 and 2 in friendly competition from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Band Room. There is no charge.
Both the KCKCC vocal and instrumental jazz departments will take center stage in a “Jazz Showcase” from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Jardines Jazz Club, 4536 Main St., Kansas City, Mo. There is a small cover charge.
