Baldwin City legislator TerriLois Gregory faces ethics hearing over using public resources for political campaigning
October 4, 2011
Topeka State ethics officials will conduct a hearing on Oct. 26 on a complaint filed against state Rep. TerriLois Gregory that alleges she used public resources for political campaigning.
Gregory, R-Baldwin City, faces a maximum fine of $5,000 before the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission.
Gregory has admitted she made a mistake in requesting campaign contributions in a newsletter sent in a June email from her state account.
Kansas law prohibits state elected officials from using public funds, machinery, equipment, supplies or any governmental agency for campaign purposes.
The complaint against Gregory was filed by Kenny Johnston, executive director of the Kansas Democratic Party.
In the email, under the heading “How do we continue?” Gregory asked for contributions for her 2012 re-election campaign.
The newsletter was sent from her House of Representatives email account.
“I understand that state property must be respected and will ensure that this does not happen again,” Gregory said in a statement.

I would like to thank the majority of the voters of District 10 for making this story possible.

What really burns about this is that she is clearly someone who is sorry only if she gets caught. She wants us to readily forgive her once she has been called out, yet she does not care to learn. This is now the second time that she has brought humiliation to the 10th district seat. It surely won't be the last.

That has always been Terri's motto. "Better to ask forgiveness than permission."

Does anybody seriously believe that she actually lives here? If so, where? Hell, I'll go mow her yard if somebody can point it out to me.

She lives at 324 Dearborn St.
