Baker volleyball reaches HAAC finals
After playing a gut-wrenching back-and-fourth battle first set, the Baker University women’s volleyball team got back on track to defeat Graceland in straight sets Wednesday evening.
Baker took set one 29-27, before rattling off a 25-22 victory in set two and a match clinching 25-19 victory in set three. The Wildcats trailed by six points during the first set before rallying late.
Senior Christina Delladio led the way offensively recording nine kills and seven blocks. Brooke Allen stabilized the defense with 21 digs.
“The girls are focused and ready to go,” said head coach Kathy Allen. “I don’t think anyone has to say anything in regards to what is on the line Saturday evening.”
Baker (26-10) will host MidAmerica Nazarene (27-7) at 7:30 p.m. in the 2011 Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship Game. The winner of the contest will receive an automatic bid to the 2011 NAIA National Championships.
