Bulldogs fall to Spring Hill at home

Boys basketball

Spring Hill 60, Baldwin 50

Five first quarter three-pointers by Spring Hill left the Baldwin High boys’ basketball team in a deficit it could never recover from as it lost 60-51 at home Friday night.

Spring Hill sank a pair of threes to open the game. The Broncos made three more later in the first quarter as they opened a 20-8 lead early. The Broncos led by as many as 18, but eight points as the smallest margin Baldwin faced in the second half.

Friday’s loss was the second straight for Baldwin (3-4) who will host a home tournament, which starts Tuesday.

Girls basketball

Spring Hill 70, Baldwin 46

Spring Hill’s quickness and ability to drive to the basket proved too much for the Baldwin High girls’ basketball team at home Friday night.

The Broncos outscored Baldwin in each quarter. They outscored Baldwin 43-26 in the second half as they won 70-46.

It was Baldwin’s (6-2) second loss of the season. Baldwin’s next game will be Thursday at home against Osawtomie.
