Wildcats roll Culver-Stockton
Aubree Gustin led a balanced offense as Baker University upended Culver-Stockton 81-57 on Saturday in women’s basketball in Canton, Mo.
Gustin scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Emily Gibson and Brittany Hines both contributed 14 points.
Baker (9-7, 4-2 HAAC) capitalized on Culver-Stockton’s 26 turnovers, outscoring Culver 28-0 on points off turnovers and 14-2 on fast-break opportunities.
Baker will play host to William Jewell on Thursday. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at the Collins Center.
Baker men rally to victory
Trailing by three points at halftime, Baker rallied in the second half for a 64-52 men’s basketball victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday in Canton, Mo.
Culver-Stockton led 26-23 at halftime before falling to Baker.
Jaris Wommack scored 20 points and Corey Anderson had 11 points to lead Baker.
Baker (6-10 overall and 2-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference) will play host to William Jewell on Thursday. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. at the Collins Center
Track teams shine at Lawrence meet
Baker’s winning 4x400-meter relay team of Jebryanna Wellington, Ashlee Miller, Hannah Moore and Ariella Harrison highlighted the Wildcats’ performance at the Bill Easton Classic indoor track meet at the Kansas University on Saturday. The women’s relay team finished in 4:05.45.
For the Baker men, Jeremy Gathright placed first in the triple jump (14.44 meters) and Jeremiah Korn finished second in the men’s shot put with a toss of 15.33 meters.
Baker will return to action on Jan. 14-15 at the UNL Holiday Invite in Lincoln, Neb.
