Wildcats season ends in penalty kick shootout
DECATUR, Ala. – In a women's soccer game that seemingly saw back and fourth action throughout, neither Baker University or Point Loma Nazarene managed to tally a goal until the final six minutes of regulation.
Point Loma Nazarene (19-1-4) struck first in the 84th minute on an unassisted goal from Erica Wessels.
Baker (15-3-2) remained composed and quickly responded with a strike just three minutes later in the 87th minute when Amber Pickering found a streaking Jordan Dolbin in the box to even the score at 1-1.
The Wildcats held an 11-5 shot advantage over the Sea Lions to close out regulation. Baker also outshot Point Loma Nazarene 4-3 in the overtime periods.
The penalty kick shootout however was all Point Loma Nazarene. The Sea Lions struck on all four chances in the shootout. Jordan Dolbin was the only Wildcat to net a tally in the shootout.
Baker goalkeeper Maggie Dupes made two saves in the contest. Point Loma Nazarene goalkeeper Tiffany Kracy recorded eight saves.
The Wildcats close out their season with a 15-3-2 record after advancing to their second consecutive NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Quarterfinal game.
