To the editor:
We want to take this opportunity to thank the outstanding teachers, staff, administration and volunteers of the Baldwin PC and IC.
Thank you for all you do every day and for going above and beyond in trying circumstances. For graciously allowing the private evening tours by Marion Springs and Vinland parents and students. For participating in those same students’ daytime tours. For working to set up communication between students in and outside of Baldwin City. For your willingness to work and adapt to this upcoming transition. For welcoming your colleagues and behaving with grace and good humor. We know there have been long hours and hurtful comments, we felt them too, and we are grateful for your dedication.
Thank you to the Baldwin PTO volunteers, especially President Christi Darnell, who have worked tirelessly to reach out to the Marion Springs and Vinland CSOs. For letting the members of those organizations know how much we want to work together. For being willing to incorporate traditions from Marion Springs and Vinland with those at the PC and IC. For being willing to work another fundraiser to help all the PC and IC teachers and students next year. For your optimism and ideas that will impact all of the children in USD 348 for years to come. Volunteering can be a thankless job, and you have excelled at it.
We are sincerely grateful to those who recognize this change is coming and are willing to face it with fortitude instead of with fear. We have no doubt that all of our children will adjust and grow with this transition.
Joe and Leigh Anne Bathke
