Bulldogs silence Thunder 53-12

Josh Hoffman scored five touchdowns to lead the Baldwin High Bulldogs to a homecoming rout over Saint James Academy, 53-12, Friday night. Hoffman scored all five during the second and third quarters. Three of them were rushing touchdowns, including a 53-yard run. He also caught a 10-yard pass and turned it into a 55-yard touchdown reception.

10:10 - Baldwin beat St. James 53-12 to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Bulldogs scored three touchdowns in the second half, while the Thunder added one. Hoffman scored two for the Bulldogs. Cornell Brown caught the other on a pass from Tyler Cawley. Jake Heller rushed 30 yards for the second Thunder touchdown.
Five county bridges up for replacement in next five years

Five Douglas County bridges are slated to be replaced in the next five years, according to a construction schedule the Kansas Department of Transportation released Thursday.

A 20-year-old Lawrence woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 59 three miles south of Lawrence.
