If it’s just about to get real busy in Baldwin City, June must be near. “Absolutely,” said Ivan Huntoon, president of the Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce. “June is always a crazy month.
Both recycling venues to be at Baker

Baldwin City likes to recycle and for the month of June, it will all have to be done at the Baker University location. Because of Thomas the Tank Engine’s appearance the first two weekends in June at the Midland Railway Depot, followed by Planes, Trains and Automobiles, the city’s recycling bins are being moved to Baker.

If all goes according to plan, by this time next year a community garden will be popping up plenty of vegetables and other plants. The Baldwin City Business and Professional Women’s group suggested the idea to the Baldwin City Council’s economic development committee recently.

Billy Coleman’s childhood tale inspired Amy Wintermantel to deliver the Baldwin High School commencement address Saturday morning. Wintermantel, a 1981 BHS graduate, spoke in great detail about Coleman’s life in the book “Where the Red Fern Grows.”

BHS baseball coach resigns

Three days after his season ended, Brock Hartshorn decided it was time to resign. Hartshorn announced on Thursday afternoon that he will be stepping down as head coach of the Baldwin High School baseball team after four years at the helm.
Throwers propel BHS boys to regional track title

TONGANOXIE — Jesse Austin and Dayton Valentine tossed the Baldwin High School boys’ track team in the right direction early Friday afternoon. At the Class 4A regional meet here, the boys’ shot put was one of the first events to finish. Baldwin’s pair of competitors threw their best throws ever as they both qualified for the state meet in Wichita.
