To the editor: On April 24 we hosted the Baldwin Safe Night After-Prom party at Royal Crest Lanes with a fantastic turn out, lots of food, fun and prizes in an environment that was safe for our students.
School board talks more athletic cuts, fee increases

Athletics and activity user fees were once again the subject of the Baldwin School Board’s budget meeting. On Monday night, the school board added seventh-grade athletics to the possible chopping block and proposed a lower user fee increase than planned last week.
Free ride over for Bulldog Days

Baldwin City’s summer workout program, Bulldog Days, will no longer be free when it starts up again May 17 at Liston Stadium. In addition to a fee for individuals or families, Bulldog Days has changed names. It will now be called Baldwin Fitness Days and will be run through the Baldwin City Recreation Commission.
Plant sale to be Friday, Saturday

The Friends of the Library will hold its annual spring plant sale in front of the library at 7th and High street on Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

BJHS track teams prepared for league

Baldwin Junior High School’s track and field teams competed in one last meet before their final one, the Frontier League meet on Saturday. On Monday, the Bulldogs headed to Eudora and left with two team titles on the girls’ side. The BJHS eighth graders scored 91 points, while the seventh grade team scored 88 points to win the meet.

DE SOTO — When chocolate cakes were on the line, Baldwin High School track and field teams beat out the competition here Friday. Instead of winning medals, the Bulldogs were awarded delicious cakes for winning the 400-meter throwers’ relays at the De Soto Invitational.

MacKenzie Flory had happier thoughts about her senior night before games began. Tuesday night’s losses to rival Eudora weren’t what she had in mind. The lone senior on the Baldwin High School softball squad hoped the Bulldogs would be on top of the sweep, instead of the losing end.

Baldwin High School’s baseball team used early and late fireworks to rally from a possible sweep to rival Eudora into a split doubleheader at home Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew a six-run lead in the opening game, which spilled over into the second contest.
