- A pair of Baldwin High School softball players earned All-Frontier League honors this spring. BHS senior MacKenzie Flory and junior Karlee Beach were named to the second team all-league. Flory was chosen as an outfielder and Beach was picked as a third baseman.

- Taylor Hartshorn made a name for himself as a freshman in the Frontier League. Opposing league coaches noticed him for his outstanding baseball season as a Bulldog. One of those coaches nominated him for an All-State honor and Hartshorn was the recipient of the recognition.

- Four Baldwin City wrestlers competed in the Southern Plains Regional Freestyle/Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Hays last weekend and two placed in the top four.

- For the first time since 2002, all four members of the Noonan family were in Wichita for the state track and field meet on May 29. Marilyn and Tom weren’t there to cheer for their children, Megan or Matt, as they graduated from Baldwin High School in 2001 and 2002. Instead they were there to help celebrate 100 years of Kansas high school track and field.

- Aaron Hannon might not have had his best meet ever at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but he was still good enough to finish third in the decathlon. Baker University coach Zach Kindler said his star multi-event athlete from Baldwin City fought through a less-than-perfect performance at the meet two weeks ago.

- Four weeks ago, Baldwin School District patrons voiced their opinions about consolidating the four elementary schools. At the end of the night, the school board members never took a vote on the subject. The school board approved other budget-cutting items on May 10 to avoid possibly closing one of the rural elementary schools.

- As expected, the Baldwin City Council approved a pair of 6 percent electrical rate increases at Monday’s meeting. “When will these take effect?” asked Council President Ted Brecheisen Jr. “July 1, so residents will see it on their August bill,” said City Administrator Jeff Dingman.
