BHS girls win Top Gun opener

WELLSVILLE — For three quarters, free throws weren’t falling for either Baldwin High or Bonner Springs girls’ basketball teams here Tuesday. However, one team made its foul shots during the final quarter of the first round Top Gun Tournament.

Baldwin sank nine of 12 free throws in the final quarter to secure a 46-34 victory over the Braves. BHS has now 20 consecutive Top Gun openers.

The two teams combined to make 27 of 58 foul shots Tuesday. Baldwin led the way with 19 of 33 free throws.

BHS will play its semifinal final at 6:15 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the Wellsville and Kansas City Christian game.
