BHS girls pick up big win; Turnovers doom BHS boys at Spring Hill

Girls basketball

Baldwin – 67, Spring Hill – 56

SPRING HILL — Three-point shooting and late free throws boosted the Baldwin High School girls’ basketball team to an important road win here Friday night.

The Bulldogs sank seven three-pointers and 16 of 21 foul shots as they beat the Broncos 67-56. That win avenged a 56-49 loss to the Broncos in the Top Gun Tournament.

Senior Taylor Brown drained four three-pointers as she scored 12 points. Leading scorer for BHS was junior Allison Howard, who sank a pair of threes en route to her 22 points. Junior Ramie Burkhart also scored in double figures with 12 points.

The win gives Baldwin a 4-1 Frontier League record and helps their chances for securing a home game for the first round of sub-state.

Boys basketball

Spring Hill – 59, Baldwin – 46

SPRING HILL — A pair of fourth quarter three-pointers ended Baldwin High School boys’ basketball team of coming back here Friday night.

Leading 44-38, Spring Hill sank back-to-back threes to build a 12-point lead with 5:30 remaining in the contest. The Broncos went on to win 59-46.

Baldwin committed 25 turnovers in the loss. It was the sixth straight loss for BHS.
