Letter to the editor
To the editor:
It’s just great to be back in Baldwin City — a neat little city. A great big thank you to all my friends and column readers for all the flowers, cards, visits and good wishes. I’m doing just great!
A special thank you to my daughters, Tricia and Candy. Tricia arrived in Olathe from Kentucky the day I fell. Good timing! Candy rode with me to the hospital in the ambulance and notified family. Tricia handled innumerable problems before I finally arrived in Baldwin City. Whatever happens to people who have no family or friends to take over?
A big thank you to Dorothea Jackson for setting up cell phone service, collecting mail, supplying newspapers, etc. She also arranged for our coffee group, Baldwin Biddies Breakfast Bunch, to meet at the rehab center on my birthday. We all enjoyed a delicious carrot cake she ordered from Cordoba’s.
A hurried call to Barbara James produced an instant response. She arrived within an hour with excellent magazines and books. The ever accommodating “L.L.L.s,” Lovely Library Ladies, supplied my family and me with important phone numbers. They also quickly sent a fine selection of books, kindly transported by Peggy Baker. Only in a small town! Thank you all.
Baldwin City is fortunate to have this particular healthcare and rehabilitation center. They have won many awards. In 2009, they received a 5-star rating for the entire midwest.
I can personally testify to the great care and cheerful attention given by the entire staff.
Again, a heartfelt thank you to all.
