BHS splits basketball games with Louisburg

Baldwin High School celebrated its 2010 Winter Royalty Friday night. The senior class winners for queen and king, from left, were Anna Baughan and John Grosdidier. The junior class winners for princess and prince were Ally Foye and Kyle Pattrick. The BHS girls beat Louisburg 50-45, while the BHS boys lost 57-41.

Girls basketball

Baldwin — 50, Louisburg — 45

Allison Howard knocked down four three-pointers to lead the Baldwin High girls’ basketball win a Frontier League game at home Friday night.

Howard led all scorers with 18 points as the Bulldogs beat Louisburg 50-45. Ramie Burkhart added 15 points to the victory. The Bulldogs sank six threes as a team Friday.

Baldwin (10-6) will play at Paola Tuesday.

Boys basketball

Louisburg — 57, Baldwin — 41

Louisburg jumped out to an early lead on the Baldwin High boys’ basketball team in Baldwin City Friday and never looked back.

The Wildcats led 7-0 and expanded that to 25-11 early in the second quarter. They led all game and beat Baldwin 57-41.

The Bulldogs (6-11) have now lost four straight games. They will travel to Paola on Tuesday.

Too bad Howard never really developed as a player, but awesome game.
