- Faulty heating unit causes flooding in BESPC first-grade pod

- Extensive damage was done last weekend to the first-grade pod of the Baldwin Elementary School Primary Center. A faulty heating and cooling unit above the pod in the northwest corner of the building created the mess. The pipes above the pod to froze, which caused the sprinklers to kick on and flood three rooms.

- EUDORA — Despite losing one of its top wrestlers to illness on the final day of the Eudora Tournament of Champions, the Baldwin High School wrestling squad finished seventh out of 23 teams competing. Baldwin scored 163.5 points to place seventh as a team. Lansing won the tournament with 247.5 points.

- If basketball games were judged on style points, the Baldwin High School girls basketball team might not have been awarded its victory Tuesday. Careless turnovers, missed free throws and a four-point third quarter were almost enough to sink the Bulldogs in their home and Frontier League opener.

- Since returning to the lineup, Justin Vander Tuig has led the Baldwin High School boys basketball team to a pair of victories. Baldwin’s senior center left the game last Tuesday with a finger injury. He didn’t finish the game as BHS rallied to beat Iola.
