Q. How long have you lived in Baldwin City and what brought you here?
A. I've lived in Baldwin for around 15 years. I came here in fourth grade from Olathe because our parents wanted to raise us in a smaller community.
Q. What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
A. Spending two weeks in Haiti directly after the earthquake earlier this year as part of a disaster relief team that provided shelter, food, water and any necessary first aid/medicine.
Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
A. “Keep running, I know you'll finish.” A stranger I ran with in the New York City Marathon told me this right before we separated. Though he meant it literally, that experience taught me to apply the “keep running” mentality to everything I do.
Q. What two things would you want people to know about you?
A. I'm in the process of becoming a Navy Rescue Swimmer, where I'll be jumping out of helicopters to help those who are in trouble out at sea. Also, I'm the audio engineer for the worship band at the Wellsville Family Worship Center.
Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A. This is a deceptive question because at almost 24 years old, I've only just decided what I want to do. But from a young age I wanted to go to Kansas State to become a veterinarian. After that I wanted to be either a lawyer or a musician.
Q. What’s the best way for you to get away from it all?
A. Spending time alone and playing or writing music. I also like to travel, either alone or with a small group of friends.
Q. What’s your ideal vacation spot?
A. In the United States, New York City or L.A. Or if I'm going abroad, I'll head back to Paris!
