To the Baldwin City and Baker University community — “wow” and “thanks!” You are an amazing group of people and I could not have been more proud to live here than I was on Sunday night. More than $6,000 was raised out of your overwhelming generosity and love for Allyson Sass as she fights NF2. Thank you so much for making the Chris Cakes benefit pancake supper a huge success.
Thanks, City Administrator Jeff Dingman, for allowing the Baldwin City Fire Station to host the event. Thanks to Fire Chief Allen Craig, fire fighters and their families for not only preparing the station, setting things up and staying the entire evening, but also for the heartfelt contribution you made to Allyson’s Hope. Thank you, Baker University and Baldwin City Public Library, for the tables and chairs.
Thank you, volunteers, for helping at the serving stations. Thanks, Julia and Hank Gillespie, for changing plans at the last minute to help the entire time. Thanks, Curt and Eileen Shreckengaust, for everything. Thanks, Will Cooper, Nanette Kraus and Baldwin High School musicians, for adding to the enjoyment of the evening.
Thanks to all of you who made donations for well more than the minimum asked and thanks all of you who donated and didn’t even eat pancakes. I just can’t say it enough — thanks Baldwin City and Baker for being the best people I know.
There is hope!
