- Mike Spielman was happy about the success of his Baldwin High School boys’ track team at its season opening meet last Thursday. Spielman’s Bulldogs began the season at Liston Stadium with the Baldwin Invitational. They won the 13-team meet with 128 points. Pittsburg finished second with 92.

- Katie Kehl wasted no time in shattering a 21-year old Baldwin High School track and field record. At her first-ever high school meet, the BHS freshman crushed the school shot put record by nearly three feet. Kehl broke Marla McTaggart’s record of 36-9 3/4 that stood since 1989 last week at the Baldwin Invitational.

- Temperatures in the 70s and blue skies made a perfect Saturday morning on Baker University’s campus for an Easter Egg Hunt. Rainbow Experience Preschool’s annual event, which falls on the day before Easter Sunday, was a popular attraction again this year.

- Baldwin’s School Board will be busy during the next two weeks as it has three meetings planned. A pair of the meetings will be for community input only. The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. The first one was Thursday and the other is April 20, both at the District Office.

- Opening day at the new ball field complex didn’t quite go as well as the Baldwin High School softball team hoped it would go Tuesday. However, the Bulldogs have a chance to split the doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
