If the past 12 years aren’t enough of a telltale sign, Mike Spielman will have a highly competitive boys’ track team this spring. Although the Baldwin High School boys’ track season hasn’t begun, expectations are high, especially in certain events.

A few freshmen might just be what the Baldwin High School girls’ track and field team needs to earn a state trophy this season. BHS finished eighth as a team in 2009 and returns most of its state competitors. Add four freshmen who could make an immediate impact into the mix and the Bulldogs’ bite might be as scary as its bark.

SHAWNEE — Brock Hartshorn said it was evident here Tuesday night that the Baldwin High School baseball team has had limited practices outside on a ball diamond. The BHS baseball coach wasn’t pleased with his team’s performance in the season opener, but he wasn’t entirely disappointed.

School district plans public input meetings

BHS softball squad sweeps season opener

WELLSVILLE — Madeline Brungardt celebrated her 16th birthday here Tuesday night. Her Baldwin High School softball teammates sang to her after the Bulldogs swept the Wellsville Eagles. The Bulldogs (2-0) crushed the Eagles, winning 17-6 and 17-2.
New BJHS principal knows plenty about Baldwin City

Tammy Thomasson might not know much about the district she’ll be working in next fall, but she is quite familiar with the Baldwin City community. She will take over the reins of the Baldwin Junior High School principal as of July 1 after leaving her position as the Wellsville curriculum director, which she’s held for 11 years.
Economic development group hosting job fair Wednesday

In the most visible example of local economic development efforts, there will be a job fair from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lodge. “Peach Madl and Doug Barth are heading up our first-ever job fair at the Lodge,” said Dave Hill, president of the Baldwin City Economic Development Corporation, which is funding the fair.
