Cable, Internet service lost to fiber optic cut again

Updated: September 10, 2009, 4:12 p.m.

For the second time in recent weeks, Baldwin City residents have been without cable TV and Internet service after MediaCom's fiber optic cable line was cut.

The line near the Baldwin Junction was cut around 10:30 a.m. Thursday and had not been fixed as of 4 p.m. A MediaCom employee said crews were working on the problem, but it was unknown when service would be restored, but it could be later this evening. No other information was available regarding the situation.

I would have gotten this alert but my internet was down. Darn it.

They did say they would refund 2 days worth of service when we called.

But they will only give the refund if you call -- and ask for a credit. If you don't specifically request a credit every time your cable and/or internet is down, they happily send you the full bill for the deficient service. Meantime, the construction crew(s) that cut their lines pay big time, so they just pocket all those fees instead of giving it to the ripped off customers.
