- Baldwin High School’s volleyball squad began and ended the Wellsville Tournament with victorious games Saturday.
Unfortunately, the middle was filled with many losses as the Bulldogs tried to recover from a week of illness and change. The Bulldogs finished the tournament with a 1-3 record, as they didn’t advance past pool play.

- Two losing streaks were on the line Friday night at Baker University’s Liston Stadium.
Baldwin High School’s football team was riding a five-game winless streak, which dated back to last year. The Bulldogs’ opponent, Ottawa, had a much longer streak on file. The Cyclones had lost 33 consecutive games, dating back to the 2005 season.

- There must be something magical about the Baldwin City Municipal Golf Course.
Each time the Baldwin High School girls’ cross country team runs there, great things happen. Not only do many of the Bulldogs run their personal-best times, the team is undefeated on its home course this fall.

- Yet another crowd took advantage of good food and music Saturday night in downtown Baldwin City at the sixth annual Blues and Barbecue event.

- After an early bye week, the Baker University football team played an efficient, yet dominating homecoming game Saturday.
Efficient as in 324 yards of offense, four incomplete passes and zero turnovers. Dominating as in allowing 72 yards of offense, one forced fumble recovery and zero points allowed.

- Baldwin High School’s annual homecoming week ended with a couple of “surprising” announcements — at least according to the newly-crowned king and queen.
At halftime of the football game Friday night, BHS celebrated its homecoming ceremony. Seniors Connor Twombly and Sam Foye were crowned 2009 homecoming queen and king.

- LOUISBURG — For nearly 60 minutes here Tuesday, the Baldwin High School soccer squad played equal with its opponent, which is among the top teams in the state.
However, those first 20 minutes doomed the Bulldogs.
