BHS winter practices start Monday

It’s time for Baldwin High School athletes to move inside for winter starting Monday afternoon. The last BHS fall team finished its season Nov. 3, which gave most winter athletes nearly two weeks to prepare for their next sport, whether it’s wrestling or basketball.
Burkharts earns second all-league selection

For the second straight season, Ramie Burkhart was lauded as one of the 12 best volleyball players in the Frontier League by opposing coaches. Burkhart, a Baldwin High School junior, was named to the all-league second team once again.
Sophomore soccer players honored by league coaches

A pair of Baldwin High School sophomores were honored for their individual performance this fall by other Frontier League soccer coaches. On Monday night, all eight coaches voted on the all-league selections for the 2009 season.
BJHS wrestlers prepared for league finale

Two weeks ago today, the Baldwin Junior High School wrestling team competed in its first meet. In two days, the season will be over. Every fall, the junior high wrestling season is incredibly short, as it only lasts for three full weeks. On Saturday, the BJHS squad will travel to Pioneer Ridge Middle School in Gardner for the Frontier League tournament.

Leaf burning questions

It’s that time again in Baldwin City. Those leaves we celebrate with the Maple Leaf Festival now have to be dealt with. They’re on the ground, not in the trees. City Administrator Jeff Dingman answers questions regarding the city’s regulations on burning leaves and other items.
Weather has been good, bad for bond projects

Not surprisingly, above average rainfall has slowed some of the Baldwin School District bond issue projects. However, one project has benefited from the rain, while another hasn’t been affected, according to Supt. Paul Dorathy.
