State Sen. Tom Holland, a critic of the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corp., has been appointed to the board that oversees the economic development agency, it was announced Thursday.

BHS graduation set for Saturday

Eighth grade girls lead BJHS at league track

GARDNER — No Baldwin Junior High School track and field records were broken at the Frontier League meet here Saturday. However, the Bulldogs did set three league meet records as they brought home lots of hardware. BJHS won 10 events and placed in 18 others as all four teams finished in the top five of the eight-team competition.

To the editor: On April 25 we hosted Baldwin Safe Night After-Prom at Royal Crest Bowl with a fantastic turn out with lots of food, fun and prizes in an environment that was safe for our students.
Food pantry help

For the past several months, students at Vinland Elementary School conducted a food drive for the Community Food Pantry. Because of the rocky economy, food pantry officials have said its use is way up. Kathy Wismer, one of the Vinland parents involved in the effort, answers questions on the effort.

District budget cuts bad, but could be worse

Supt. Paul Dorathy announced Monday night that the Baldwin School District could be facing $741,000 in cuts to the 2009-2010 budget. That total results from state funding cuts and health insurance problems within the district.
Softball ends senior night with walk-off win

Sarah Johnson capped off a wonderful week of softball with an extra-inning, walk-off run Tuesday night. Her score lifted the Baldwin High School softball team to a sweep of Gardner-Edgerton. It was the fifth win out of six games for the Bulldogs during a six-day stretch that boosted the Bulldogs’ record to 13-5.
Bulldogs finish 1, 2 at Redbud Classic

WELLSVILLE — Fast times and solid performances in the field events were the main themes here Friday. The Baldwin High School track and field teams battled a 19-team field at the annual Redbud Classic. Baldwin left the meet with two top team finishes and three traveling plaques.
