- An emergency helicopter is transporting a 16-year-old Leavenworth girl to Kansas University Hospital following a one-vehicle accident south of Eudora High School, authorities said at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

- High school basketball is over in Kansas, but college roundball has the country anxiously awaiting today’s start of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
However, here in Baldwin City, 18 youth boys have been hitting the gym and enjoying their own March Madness.

- Through seven practices, Mike Spielman and Ted Zuzzio are excited about the upcoming Baldwin High School track season.
Although the 2009 spring sports season is in its infant stages, there is buzz around Liston Stadium about the track season. Numbers are up from a year ago and both BHS squads return most of their state qualifiers.

- After 37 years in education spanning three school districts, Tom Mundinger is hanging up his post as Baldwin Elementary School Intermediate Center principal.
For the second time in the past 15 months, Mundinger has announced his retirement. However, he said this one is final.
