Hannon, Miller earn all-american status at indoor nationals

Aaron Hannon and Ashlee Miller proved their ability to perform in the clutch at last week’s National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Indoor Track and Field Championships in Johnson City, Tenn. It was their final performances that boosted them to third place. The pair of Baker University juniors’ placings earned them their first All-American status in the indoor multi-event competition.
April election drawing ever close

With less than a month before the April 7 election that could change the face of the Baldwin City Council, interest in the race has started to build. One only has to look at the signs for candidates popping up even more around town and accusations of them being removed. Yes, there’s a race here after all.

Seventh-annual Wellness Festival is March 28

Along with the usual assortment of health screenings and tests, there is a new draw to Baldwin City’s Community Wellness Festival. Before the annual festival begins on March 28, there will be a 5-kilometer run/walk.
Board hears update on bond projects

Official costs on two bond issue projects might be coming in during the next few weeks. Doug Loveland of DLR Group presented updated drawing and schedules to the Baldwin School Board Monday night.

Budget cuts that were once believed to cause major problems in the Baldwin School District might have a silver lining. Supt. Paul Dorathy informed the Board of Education about the possibility of the district not having to cut as much as expected from the 2009-2010 budget.
