It’s not officially August, but school is just around the corner. First sign of the upcoming year is always enrollment day. This year, that day is Tuesday for the Baldwin School District.

Douglas County Fair schedule

The annual Douglas County Fair seems to have something for everyone. There will be a carnival, antique tractor show, music concerts, livestock shows, petting zoo and, of course, food.
Douglas County Fair to offer plenty of offbeat events

The Douglas County Fair officially kicks off today with a jackpot barrel racing competition at 7 p.m. at Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 21st and Harper streets. The free fair goes until Aug. 8 and is a highlight for county 4-H’ers who compete in projects such as horses, poultry and cooking. The fair will include about 4,500 4-H entries this year.
