Q. How long have you lived in Baldwin City and what brought you here?
A. 10 years. Retired in Delaware and wanted to return to northeast Kansas to be nearer relatives. We wanted to find a small-town atmosphere with cultural and medical options.
Q. What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
A. Marrying my wife on college graduation day, moving her to Iowa and starting a new job all within two weeks. Because of major construction in the area, we could not find any furnished apartment, but were lucky to find one unfurnished and cooked on a hot plate for a couple months.
Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
A. Let nothing disturb you, let nothing dismay you, all things pass, God never changes.
Q. What two things would you want people to know about you?
A. I’m a very quiet person by nature, but I really enjoy helping anyone having a need. Friends, family, family history and volunteering are important aspects of my life.
Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A. A farmer or an electrician.
Q. What’s the best way for you to get away from it all?
A. I enjoy reading old newspapers and doing historical or genealogical-type research.
Q. What’s your ideal vacation spot?
A. Camping with family, anywhere, even in the back yard.
