BHS JV, freshmen teams sweep Northern Heights

ALLEN — On Tuesday night, the Baldwin High School junior varsity and freshmen teams swept Northern Heights here.

The BHS JV girls defeated the Wildcats 52-34 to improve their record to 6-2. Junior Taylor Brown led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Junior Julie Hill added 12 to the win.

In the freshman girls’ game, Baldwin hung on to win 37-26. BHS controlled the entire game. Leading scorers were Kaysha Green (13) and Kara Hoegerl (8). The BHS freshman girls’ squad is now 8-1.

On the boys’ side, Baldwin won both contests with ease. The JV boys’ team crushed the Wildcats 58-40. Sophomore Josh Hoffman led the team with a double-double. Hoffman scored 16 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

The BHS freshman boys cruised to a victory over Northern Heights. The Bulldogs won 66-46. Clayton Duncan led the Bulldogs with 14 points. Asher Hannon added 11, while Derby Miller and Max Venable each scored eight points.

All BHS teams will play host to Gardner-Edgerton on Friday. The games begin at 4 p.m. The order of games in the BHS gym will be JV boys, freshman boys and freshman girls. The Baldwin Junior High School gym will be JV girls, varsity girls and varsity boys.

BHS will celebrate its annual King and Queen of Courts ceremony Friday at halftime of the varsity boys’ game.
