Varsity Bulldogs split at Northern Heights

Baldwin — 61, Northern Heights — 50
ALLEN — A 13-0 start to Tuesday’s boys’ basketball contest here propelled Baldwin High to a 61-50 road victory over Northern Heights.
The Bulldogs used their notable size difference to score most of their points in the paint. They have six players standing 6-foot-4 or taller, while Northern Heights tallest player is 6-4.
Baldwin’s 6-foot-8 Justin Vander Tuig led all scorers with 18 points. Baldwin will play host to Gardner-Edgerton at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Girls basketball
Northern Heights — 53, Baldwin — 34
ALLEN — Northern Heights took advantage of a 15-2 run early in Tuesday’s girls’ basketball contest here as it rolled over Baldwin High, 53-34.
Baldwin led 4-3 early in the game, but the Wildcats soon found their offense while Baldwin struggled to make shots. The Bulldogs never recovered as the Wildcats maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the contest.
