The Baldwin City Recreation Commission, Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce and the Baldwin City Convention and Visitors Bureau would like to thank all those who came out to enjoy the 10th Annual Holiday of Lights Parade.
A special thanks goes to Laura Morford for donating the community Christmas tree, the Victorian Carolers who walked the downtown area caroling, the Baldwin Dance Academy Dance Troupe for performing a dance number while waiting for the parade to begin and the Maple Leaf Committee for use of their sound system throughout the day to play Christmas music.
Others to thank are the Baldwin City electric distribution crew and all other city workers for all their help with the Christmas tree. Cookies, coffee, hot chocolate and hot apple cider were donated by Reece and Nichols Gold, Kansas State Bank, Three Sisters Inn, George and Cheryl McCrary, Stony Point Hall, Annie France, Shelley Black and The Pink Lady.
The parade entries: The police department for escorting the parade, Grand Marshal Vivian Courtney, Baldwin High School band and choir, Knights of Columbus (Junior third place), The Kern Carting Collies (first place), Mitch’s Custom Motorcycles, Three Sisters Inn (second place), Baker University (Junior first place), Signal Ridge Mowing (Junior second place), Baldwin City Business and Professional Women, Events by Shelley, Stony Point Hall (third place), Miss Teen Maple Leaf, Mixed Bag Cruisers, Linden Lea Horse Boarding, Blazing Saddle Club, Fire Chief Allen Craig with the Baldwin City Fire Department for bringing Santa on the antique fire truck, and, of course, Santa for lighting our Annual Christmas Tree for the past 28 years. Santa gave out candy canes donated by Stephens Real Estate.
Thanks also to the judges of the parade entries, Jeannie Friend and Luanne Carrol.
