Wellness festival washed out
Dire predictions of winter weather dumping 7 to 9 inches of snow on Baldwin City Saturday wiped out the Community Wellness Festival. It was canceled.
“It was with much regret that we made the decision to cancel the Wellness Festival for this year,” said Ruth Sarna, festival director and director of student health services at Baker University. “With the impending ice and snow storm that the weather folks predicted, we made the decision to cancel the fair.
“It was one of the most agonizing decisions and days of the seven years that we have had the festival,” said Sarna.
Although she was troubled by the entire situation, she was most concerned about people who had signed up — and paid for — blood work. However, she’s been able to make arrangements to have that done.
“For the people that have paid and registered for lab work by Lawrence Memorial Hospital, we have organized a time for that work to be done,” she said.
The LMH lab will do the ordered lab work from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Collins Gym on the Baker campus.
“If you have paid for the work and can’t make it to the gym on Saturday, LMH lab will send you a rain check that is redeemable at the hospital lab within two months after the March 28 date,” said Sarna.
