Gorgeous fall weather brought the usual throng of thousands to the 51st annual Maple Leaf Festival Saturday for the parade, crafts booths and, of course, food. A similar day Sunday brought many back for more.

Baldwin High School’s soccer team picked up an easy win last Thursday against Eudora. The Bulldogs beat the Cardinals 5-1 in their final home game of the season.

The Baldwin High School volleyball team had a rough go of things here Saturday in the Frontier League tournament. The Bulldogs were beaten in all six matches to finish in eighth place. It wasn’t quite the results coach Kelly Brown was hoping for.

It’s hard to go anywhere in Baldwin City without being reminded of the Nov. 4 election, mostly because of politicians’ signs. However, that day is also important for the Baldwin School District. Its $22.9 million bond issue is also on the ballot in 12 days.
