BHS winter coaches pleased with seasons

Now that the winter sports’ season has passed by, it was time for some reflecting by the trio of head coaches at Baldwin High School. Despite - what they viewed as - a lack of postseason success this winter, all three coaches are trying to not let that overshadow their success during the regular season.
Poplin, school district settle case for $42,000

Former Baldwin High School principal Allen Poplin has reached a settlement for a lawsuit he filed against the Baldwin School District. Poplin settled for $42,000. He had originally sought in excess of $1 million, claiming discrimination based on violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act after his contract was non-renewed three years ago.
All-day kindergarten could get try

A class full of kindergarten students might just test pilot an all-day class next year in the Baldwin School District. Although no decision has been made, the Baldwin School Board might be leaning toward a pilot class in August.
Senior duo selected to all-league teams

Drew Berg and Colby Heckathorne were recognized by opposing coaches for their outstanding basketball seasons. Both Baldwin High School seniors were recently named to the All-Frontier League teams for the 2007-2008 season. It is an honor that is voted on by the other seven league coaches.
Vinland teacher causes parent concern

Bond issue gets board attention

Legally, the Baldwin School Board will need to officially make a decision on a possible November bond issue vote by early August. However, it doesn’t appear the school board wants to wait that long.
Schroer among all-stars

This Baldwin High School senior has seen how perseverance can pay off. Marianne Schroer had played tennis for four years, working through her freshman year when she was “horrendous,” she said.
