A man died at Lone Star Lake just before 1 p.m. Saturday after falling into the frigid lake and despite the efforts of three Baldwin City men to save him.

Is it possible for a basketball coach to be cursed? Or perhaps jinxed? Maybe it’s just bad luck or unfortunate circumstances? It can’t be a curse on the town, because several Baldwin High School teams have been successful on the state level.
Honomichl bound for hall of fame

After her final season this spring, Ginny Honomichl will join some elite company in the world as a high school coach. Once her 38th year as an educator is finished, the Baldwin High School teacher and coach will retire. However, she will be honored this summer in Colorado Springs.

Before the Baldwin School Board makes its decision on a bond issue recommendation, opponents of the bond and a tax increase wanted the board to hear their opinions. Although another tax increase isn’t favored by bond issue opponents, they also don’t feel the district needs to build any new facilities.

Honors banquet draws crowd

Baldwin High School celebrated its 27th-annual honors banquet Monday night in the BHS gymnasium. A total of 187 students were honored at the banquet for maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.0 or higher for each semester.
