- A pair of Baldwin City teens completed their summer track and field seasons by competing at the national level over the weekend.
Despite neither medaling in the particular events, they were both pleased with their performances.

- For the first time in many years, Mike Berg isn’t using his week of summer camp to install a new offense.
Instead, he is having his Baldwin High School football players improve the offense that led the Bulldogs to a 10-3 record and state semifinal round a year ago.

- A handful of runners battled a warm, muggy morning in a fundraiser for the Shriner’s Hospital here Saturday.
Although it wasn’t a typical autumn morning, most of those runners were competing in the Kansas Shrine Bowl all-star cross-country run.

- While several Baldwin High School runners helped make the all-star fun run a success, the main story from the weekend is always the annual football game. It was once again another all-star game that came down to the final minute.

Baldwin City motorists are becoming accustomed to “road closed ahead” and “detour ahead” signs along Sixth Street north of High Street and south of Orange Street. But, the road isn’t closed and there isn’t a detour : yet.

- With the summer winding to a close, area schools are preparing for a new batch of incoming students. Enrollment days for many schools will be Friday and there are also events planned for students and their parents.
