Rain, cold lead to slick sidewalks, roads
As rain moves through the area, the cold temperatures and the even colder ground is leading to some slick spots on sidewalks on streets.
Baldwin City street crews have been treating streets with a salt. As the rain accumulates, however, the treatment can be washed away until another pass by city crews.
The city advised drivers to slow down and make sure all windows are clear when driving.
The Kansas Department of Transportation reports that most highways in the area are wet, though south of Baldwin City roads are being classified as "completely snowpacked/ice."
In Baldwin City, a thin layer of ice is covering most surfaces.
