- Brandon Tommer and Clad Kueffer made sure their season opener wasn’t a loss.
With a pair of future starters inactive for Tuesday’s game, Tommer and Kueffer took over the fourth quarter. The two Baldwin High School seniors combined to score all 15 points in the final eight minutes.

- Missed layups, missed free throws and turnovers plagued the Baldwin High School girls’ basketball team during the first quarter of its season opener Tuesday night.
Despite the lackluster opening moments of action, BHS neither trailed nor led after the first eight minutes. It was deadlocked with Anderson County — 4-4.

- Sam Beecher joined a prestigious list this week.
The Baldwin High School senior became the fourth player under coach Mike Berg’s 11-year tenure as BHS football coach to be a unanimous Class 4A All-State selection.

- The Baldwin High School wrestlers had a strong start to their season at the Gardner-Edgerton Invitational on Saturday.
They competed against 15 schools (13 of which were Class 5A and 6A schools) with Baldwin placing fifth.

- Baker University’s fall commencement ceremonies will be Saturday and Sunday at the George F. Collins Sports and Convention Center on the Baldwin City campus. More than 600 students are candidates for degrees.
