VERNELL H. RANDEL
Funeral services for Vernell H. Randel, 94, Baldwin City, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Mrs. Randel died Sept. 25, 2007, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born May 3, 1913, on a farm east of Vinland, the daughter of Frank and Ella Deay Hagerman. She graduated from Vinland High School. She ran the Vinland Telephone office for several years. She worked for Baldwin State Bank for 25 years as head bookkeeper until retirement. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
She married Artie H. Randel Oct. 19, 1936. He died Dec. 28, 1986. A brother, Leo Hagerman, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Leon, Lawrence; a brother, Max Hagerman, Chesterfield, Mo.; two sisters, Bernice Everts, Tampa, Fla., and Rosalea Vogler, St. Charles, Mo.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 8 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vinland Cemetery following services. Memorials may be made to the Vinland Cemetery Association and sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.rumsey-yost.com.
