Informational meeting
set for habitat
An informational meeting about Habitat for Humanity will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the activity room at the Baldwin City Public Library.
Jeremy Hahn, executive director of the habitat office will explain the application process and plans for the community building.


Wellsville UM Church
to have turkey dinner
The Wellsville United Methodist Church will have its annual Turkey and Ham Dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 302 Locust.
The meal includes meat, all the trimmings, dessert and a drink. Carryout is available at southeast door.


Lions Club to
have meeting
The Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Vintage Park Center.


Grief support
meeting scheduled
Grief support meetings for women are held the second and fourth Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at Vintage Park Center. The next meeting will be Oct. 25.


Legion Auxiliary
to sell pies
The American Legion Auxiliary will be selling pies at the Maple Leaf Festival in Legion Hall.
The hall will be open Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to receive the pies. The auxiliary welcomes pie donations from community members. Proceeds go to fund special community projects.

Health department
hosts flu clinics
The Douglas County Health Department will hold several community flu clinics: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 20, Knights of Columbus Hall, 2206 E. 23rd St., Lawrence; 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Oct. 22, Eudora City Hall; 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 23, Baldwin Senior Center; 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Oct. 25, Douglas County Senior Center, 745 Vermont.
The cost for flu shots is $18 for infants up to age 3 and $23 for people 3 years and older. Those eligible for Medicare Part B, HealthWave, Medicaid and Blue Cross/Blue Shield can receive the flu shot for no charge if they bring their card.
Important flu prevention: wash your hands; cover coughs and sneezes; stay home when sick; avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Question can be directed to the health department, (785) 843-0721.


Lighthouse church
to have hayrack ride
Lighthouse Baptist Church is having a hayrack ride at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 27. Call the church for information, 594-4101.


Vinland church to
host supper
Vinland United Methodist Church, 1724 N. 692 Rd., is having its annual Chili and Chicken and Noodle Supper from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. October 27. Freewill donations will be accepted.


Newland -- Rockhold
Reunion news
There were 61 descendents of George A. Newland and George A. Rockhold in attendance at the family reunion at the Masonic Hall, Baldwin City, Oct. 12.
