Community theatre
to have auditions
Baldwin City Community Theatre will have auditions for the summer production of "Grease."
Parts are open for ages 14 and above. Auditions will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 816 High St. Those auditioning should prepare a musical or '50s number and bring sheet music. No a cappella singing.
Performances will be Aug. 2, 3, 4, 5 and Aug. 8, 9, 10, 11. For more information, call (785) 594-7440. Anyone interested in working backstage, should leave their name and phone number.

Helping Hands to
distribute food
Helping Hands Food Ministry of Wellsville Family Worship Center, Sixth and Locust streets, will distribute food from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
New participants should bring a current utility bill as proof of address.

African Violet club
to have sale
The Lawrence African Violet Club will have its annual violet sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Malls Shopping Center, 23rd and Louisiana streets in Lawrence. Club members should be there at 8 a.m. to set up.

Vinland FCE group
schedules meeting
The Vinland Family Community Education unit will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Vinland.
The lesson "Where in the World is Turkey?" will be presented by Elizabeth Hemphill. Hostess will be Freida Martin.

Ives Chapel Day
circle to travel
Ives Chapel Day Circle will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church to travel to Osawatomie to tour the museum and Adair Cabin.
Those attending should bring a picnic dish for a picnic in the park on the John Brown site. All women are welcome and should let Rosann Elder know by May 13 in order to provide transportation and picnic wares.

Young at Heart to
gather for lunch
The Young at Heart group from Lighthouse Baptist Temple will meet at 12:30 p.m. May 17 at the church to travel to Fire Mountain in Olathe for lunch. Community members are welcome to attend.

Baldwin to have
citywide cleanup
Baldwin's citywide cleanup will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 at the power plant, 1100 Orange.
Items accepted will be manageable sizes of limbs and yard waste, trash and debris not picked up on regular schedule and recyclable metals, appliances, plastics and glass.
Not accepted will be hazardous waste, commercial waste, contractor dumping and tires. Tires will be accepted for a small fee from 8 a.m. until noon at Tires and More, 131 Baker. Questions can be directed to 594-6907.
