Friends schedule
annual plant sale
Friends of the Baldwin City Public Library will have its annual Spring Plant Sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in front of the library.
Herbs, annuals and hanging baskets will be available. Plants will be provided by Baldwin Junction Greenhouse, Vinland Valley Nursery and Clearfield Farms.

Car seat inspections
set for Saturday
Baldwin Parents as Teachers program will provide car seat safety inspections and seat distribution from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the USD 348 bus barn at 416 Quayle. Inspections are free and are performed by National Highway Safety Traffic Administration certified technicians. A new law effective July 1 requires children ages 4, 5, 6 and shorter than 4-foot-9 in height be placed in appropriate restraining systems. Car seats will be available for purchase.

Ives Chapel Evening
Circle to meet
Ives Chapel Evening Circle will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Fellowship Hall. Gail Kingsley is hostess and has devotions. Margie Adcock will present the program.

Worden UMC
hosts kids' gathering
A fellowship and Bible study will be held for all third through fifth graders from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday and May 20 at Worden United Methodist Church.
The Praise Worship Celebration with Rev. William Dulin will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday with food and fellowship to follow.

Baker music department
presents spring concert
The Baker University music department will present the Voices of Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church.
The concert will feature the choral ensembles of the Concert Choir, University Singers and Chamber Singers. The groups are under the direction of John Buehler, director of choral studies, accompanied by Susan Buehler, associate professor of music.
There is no admission charge and the public is welcome to attend.

Rainbow Experience
sets plant sale
The Rainbow Experience Preschool Spring Plant Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 12 in the parking lot of Baldwin City Market.

Appraiser mailing
valuation notices
The Douglas County Appraiser's office will mail 2007 personal property valuation notices Monday.
Notices include a description of personal property, such as mobile homes, boats and equipment. Taxpayers may request an appeal appointment by calling the service number listed on the notice by 5 p.m. May 15.

Weaver honored at
Simpson convocation
Rebecca Weaver, Baldwin City, received the Outstanding Senior in Art award at the 2007 Honors Convocation at Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, April 19.
Weaver is a senior Art and Marketing major. Simpson College Honors Convocation acknowledges outstanding students of all grade levels for their achievements in academics, leadership, character and volunteerism.
