Helping Hands
shares food items
The Helping Hands Food Ministry will distribute food from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Wellsville Family Worship Center, Sixth and Locust streets, Wellsville. Bring a utility bill with name and proof of address.

Lions Club to
have meeting
The Lions Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Vintage Park Center.

FCE schedules
Vinland meeting
The Vinland Family Community Education unit will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Vinland Methodist Church. Virgie Pfantz is hostess. The lesson will be from the Hearth Fire Series.

Ives Chapel Day
Circle to meet
The Day Circle of Ives Chapel UMW will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Pat Rosell will lead the Easter lesson, "Rise! Shine! For Christ Is Risen." Karin Constantinescu is hostess.

Legion celebrates
its birthday
American Legion Post No. 228 and its Auxiliary will have a birthday celebration potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Legion Hall, 803 High St., Baldwin City.

ECKAN Agency
distributes items
The ECKAN Agency will distribute food items to eligible Douglas County commodity participants from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. March 22 at the American Legion Hall, Baldwin City.

Workshop attended
by librarians
Becky McMillen and Susan Butell, Baldwin City Public Library, attended the Summer Reading Workshop presented by the Northeast Kansas Library System in Topeka.
The workshop, "Get a Clue At Your Library" was designed to assist librarians prepare for the summer reading program. Libraries working together help provide program materials for children at the lowest possible cost.
The Kansas State Library and the Northeast Kansas Library System provide items such as book bags, posters, bookmarks, certificates and manuals.

KCKCC announces
honor roll student
Lacey Rockhold was named to the Provost's Honor Roll for the Fall 2006 semester at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She was enrolled in the 2+2 program to complete her preliminary requirements for Emporia State University where she is currently a junior in the Elementary Education cohort program.
To be named to the Provost's Honor Roll, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 -- 3.99. Rockhold is the daughter of Allen and Terri Rockhold, Baldwin City.

Relay for Life
sets meeting dates
Relay for Life participants will meet the following dates in preparation for the June 8 event:
¢ March 29 -- team captain meeting, 5:30 p.m., Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auditorium;
¢ April 26 -- team captain meeting, 5:30 p.m., LMH Auditorium;
¢ May 24 -- team captain meeting, 5:30 p.m., LMH Auditorium;
¢ June 5 and 6 -- Relay Bank Nights, Douglas County Bank, 31st and Iowa streets;
¢ June 8 -- Douglas County Relay for Life -- 7 p.m., Free State High School track.
