Three Baldwin City men arrested on drug charges
A routine traffic stop Saturday night by Baldwin City police led to the arrest of three Baldwin City men on drug-related charges.
Sgt. Greg Schiffilbein said an officer stopped a vehicle at 9:39 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Third Street because of a defective tag light. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and illegal knives, said Schiffilbein.
The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Baldwin City man, was arrested for possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug stamp, possession of illegal weapons and open container of alcohol. Schiffilbein declined to say how much marijuana was involved and said it had been sent to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for testing and weighing.
A 24-year-old Baldwin City man that was a passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Another passenger, a 26-year-old Baldwin City man, was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and open container.
All three were taken to Douglas County Jail and were to have their first court appearance today.
