schedule meeting
The Clearfield -- Ives Chapel United Methodist Youth group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Ives Chapel UM Church. Youth sixth through 12th grades are invited.

Helping Hands Food Ministry will distribute food from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Wellsville Family Worship Center, Sixth and Locust streets, Wellsville.
New participants should bring a utility bill with current address.


CMU announces
spring honor roll
Central Michigan University has announced its spring semester honor roll. Students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale to qualify. Phillip J. Wagner, senior, is listed on the honor roll. He is the son of Ken and Diane Wagner, Baldwin City.


Emergency packets
to assist seniors
Douglas County Senior Services is bringing back the Health File Program to Douglas County.
The Health File is a blue plastic envelope containing Emergency Care Instructions, Living Will and Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare Choices forms, and a magnet to hold the envelope on the side of the refrigerator.
The file is available at DCSS, 745 Vermont St., Lawrence. For information, call (785) 842-0543.


BBB warns of
roof and gutter scam
The Better Business Bureau warns Kansans to help protect the elderly against men representing themselves as roofers with a Lincoln, Neb., company, World of Roofs.
Two men in an unmarked white truck offered to repair a roof in Topeka but were stopped when the woman's daughter arrived. The company's identity has been used in scams in Ohio, Nebraska and now northeast Kansas. One victim lost $4,000.
