January 26, 2007

WELLSVILLE -- After taking control of the first quarter, the Baldwin High School girls' basketball team never looked back in its game against Piper Thursday night.

The Bulldogs finished the first quarter on a 16-2 run to lead 20-8. BHS maintained a lead for the rest of the contest as they won 64-56.

BHS senior Kelsey Verhaeghe led the team with 16 points. She made four three-pointers to give her 10 for the tournament thus far. She needs two more to tie her Top Gun record and three to set a new mark.

The Bulldogs will play Ottawa in the championship game. The contest will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday in Wellsville.
