Wagner withdraws from school board race
Dave Wagner, a candidate for the Baldwin School Board at-large position No. 7, announced Monday that he's withdrawing from the race.
In an e-mail to Supt. Paul Dorathy and the board of education, Wagner stated:
"I regret, because of a change in circumstance, that I must withdraw from the election for BOE," Wagner said. "It has become clear in the last week, that because of the change, I will not be able to meet what would be the time requirements to do a good job."
Wagner contacted the Douglas County Clerk Monday morning regarding his withdrawal. His name will still appear on the ballot for the Feb. 27 primary election. The other three candidates are Teresa Arnold, Doug Mead and Joshua Mihesuah. A candidate forum for those three is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Baker University's Owens Hall.
A candidate forum for the seven running for three openings on the Baldwin City Council was Monday night in Owens Hall. Those candidates are Nancy Brown, Tony Brown, Ted Brecheisen, Jr., Jennifer Hayes, Jason Mock, Kenny Niehoff and Ken Wagner. A story on the forum is on the front page and in the Election 2007 section of the Web site.
Also, candidate profiles on the three remaining candidates are in the Election 2007 section of the Web site. Next week, the seven Baldwin City Council candidates' profiles will be published in the Signal and be available on-line.
